“Whenever you’re feeling defeated, remember to hit pause - not quit.”
This was the advice that Shambretta约翰逊 used to motivate herself during tough times, 和 it remains a sentiment she applies to her role as a medical assistant every day.
But before she became a healthcare hero, Shambretta struggled to find her calling. She was unsure of what pathway she wanted to embark on until her research led her to Herzing大学-麦迪逊’s online medical assisting program.
“As soon as I spoke to the admissions team, I felt reassured 和 encouraged,香布雷塔分享道. “我知道我选择了赫晶是正确的.”

“Because of my learning disability, I have always felt as if I’m at a disadvantage,香布雷塔说. “I’m especially appreciative of the way Herzing’s staff worked with me to create a plan 和 helped me succeed. I could call them whenever I needed them 和 felt confident that they truly wanted to help.”
Shambretta’s educational experience was challenging to say the least.
“It was simultaneously the hardest 和 most rewarding experience of my life,香布雷塔说.
While she was in school, Shambretta was faced with homelessness 和 spent time living out of her car. 面对逆境, 她继续坚持学习, 和 ultimately graduated with her medical assisting degree in 2022.

“I learned a lot about the strength that comes from asking questions 和 reaching out for help,她说. “I took advantage of all the resources 和 materials available to me from Herzing 和 continue to use them to this day.”

Goal setting continues to play a major role in Shambretta’s life 和 is a focal point for how she remains so determined 和 driven. Overcoming unthinkable challenges 和 continuing to stay positive through it all is something she uses to motivate her further. 她称之为“为什么”.
“I encourage all students to identify their ‘why’ 和 use that as a compass throughout their education,香布雷塔说. “我已经经历了这么多. I’ve overcome a lot, so I know I can h和le anything,” she continued. “I’m here to help others 和 I can’t give up on myself because that means I’m giving up on them.”
